What to visit in Sicily: 5 wonders do not miss!

Here we are with five of the most beautiful and magical places not to be missed in Eastern Sicily:

1) Etna, the largest volcano in Europe
A must in Sicily! with its almost 1300km ° and a depth of 3329m asl Etna is a destination to visit at any time of the year. Trekking, jeep, bike and horseback excursions are organized by many agencies operating in the sector. Alone you can easily reach the Rifugio Sapienza where the Etna Cableway starts or take a walk around the Silvestri Craters (side mouths of 1892). If you want to learn more about its activity and history, we advise you to contact the many experienced hiking or volcanological guides operating in the area, especially if you never venture alone along its paths. Many sporting events are organized throughout the year. In winter it is the most important skiing destination on the whole island.

2) Catania
From the artistic and historical point of view, Catania is undoubtedly a landmark of the island! Founded by the Greeks and repeatedly destroyed by the lavas of Etna and by earthquakes, it has always risen from its ashes like the phoenix. In its historic center, UNESCO heritage, there are so many things to admire: the Cathedral of Sant’Agata and Piazza Dumo, the Massimo Vincenzo Bellini Theater, the Benedictine Monastery, the Odeon, the Ursino Castle, the Roman Theater. Its open-air markets: ‘A Piscaria’ where you can taste many delicious dishes based on fish and more and ‘A Fera O ‘Luni’ full of colorful stalls, the seaside villages of ‘San Giovanni Li Cuti’ and ‘Ognina ”, In Lògnina dialect, where you will find excellent fish restaurants and many places to drink with friends. In Catania you will feel like real Sicilians! To know all its secrets, we suggest you take a guided tour with our tourist guide Miriam.

3) Syracuse and Ortigia
In third position here is the wonderful Syracuse. It is truly amazing how this city manages to encompass such a large number of attractions. The Greek Amphitheater and the Ear of Dionysus in the Neopolis Park, the Fonte Aretusa, the Baroque Cathedral and the Maniace Castle on the Island of Ortigia, the historical center of the city, are unique rarities that greatly increase the Italian historical and artistic heritage.

4) Taormina
Taormina deserves a special place in the ranking for its archaeological richness. The Ancient Theater, the Numachie, the Greek-Roman Theater and the Castle of Monte Tauro, but also the Duomo and Palazzo Corvaja, are just some of the most beautiful places in Taormina. To all this we add the fantastic beaches and coves of the territory, from the pretty Mazzarò (just below the village), to the Baia delle Sirene, fantastic natural places that give an added value to one of the most beautiful places in Sicily.

5) Val di Noto
In fifth position, but no less important, we wanted to put an entire territory. The Val di Noto, in fact, is quite extensive and contains within itself several exceptional towns and beautiful UNESCO heritage towns for their Baroque art. Among these we find the most famous Noto but do not miss also Ragusa Ibla, Caltagirone, Modica, Militello, Scicli and Palazzolo Acreide.
