1st Step: On our jeeps our excursion starts following the path that develops along old and new flows, here our geological and naturalistic guides give an explanation of the volcanic apparatus of Etna and illustrate the differences between the various types of volcanoes in the world.
2nd Step: We continue in the direction of Rifugio Sapienza (altitude 2000 m above sea level), here the landscape becomes lunar and the green woods of Etna leave room for the recent black castings (of 2002) and the lava desert. We make a first stop on the lava sand, where you can observe the latest plant manifestations such as the Astracalus and the Saponaria (succulents), and walk on the recent volcanic ash. In a few minutes we reach the Crateri Silvestri, a buttonhole formed by 5 mouths eruptive born in 1892, we make the perimeter of the craters from where you can admire the wonderful view of Catania and its gulf from 2000 m altitude s.l.m. Duration of trekking: 40 minutes, level: medium / easy.
3rd Step: Returning aboard the jeeps proceed towards one of the most famous lava flow caves of Etna, 'the Cassone Cave', here, as only in Iceland, you are captivated by the charm that a dark and deep atrium emanates. . Equipped with helmets and torches we visit the lava tunnel.
4th Step: Continue to Monte Pomiciaro where you can admire the majesty of the Valle del Bove, a natural balcony from which to be captivated and enchanted by the magnetism that emanates the Volcano.
