Catania – ‘Between History and legends’

Let’s start from Piazza Duomo by visiting the majestic cathedral of Catania dedicated to the patron saint of the city: Sant’Agata.
We continue our visit in the square with the history and legends of the “Liotru”, the fountain of the Elephant, and the underground river that flows at the fountain of Amenano, known with the dialect name of “Acqua o’ Linzolu”, water sheet.

We then immerse ourselves in the colors, smells and sounds of one of the most vital centers of the city, the Fish Market, where we will visit the remains of the door of Charles V.
We then return to Piazza Duomo from Porta Uzeda and head towards the Badia di Sant’Agata, one of the most beautiful churches in Catania and the only Greek cross of the historic center.

We then climb Via Vittorio Emanuele and enter one of the most beautiful streets of the city, Via Crociferi.
Here we will talk about the thousand legends that animate the buildings on the sides of this wonderful street and then we head towards the Via Etnea passing through the University Square.

We then go up Via Etnea and head towards Via Manzoni where we admire one of the hidden views of Roman Catania.
Then we arrive in Piazza Stesicoro to admire the second largest amphitheater in the world in antiquity.

We conclude our tour by going up via Etnea and greeting ourselves at the entrance of the largest public garden in the city: the Villa Bellini.
